Best In Show & Best in Specialty Show winner,  Kent, commenced his show career in Australia with Andrea Best before joining the Doyle family in New Zealand. 

He is fondly remembered as ‘the old bugger’ who had a tail that never stopped wagging and his pushy way of ‘body slamming’ to get your full attention.  A cool, wonderfully natured dog, one who would smile and who was without a mean bone in his body will be missed by the extended Doyle family.

Our 5 year old granddaughter loves being with Kent … he leans against her and nearly knocks her over, but as expected he does not have a mean bone in his body.

ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW

Keith Anderson (Eirean Irish Setters) has improved after his lung transplant of a few weeks ago – he is now breathing using his new lungs – however, it is a case of three steps forward, two back at this stage.  After being released from Intensive Care Unit at the Alfred Hospital after more than a month, he was readmitted because of a lung infection.  Hopefully, he will continue to fight the good fight and begin his long and arduous recuperation very soon.

Our continued thoughts and prayers are with him and Di.

Diane is organising to have updates on her Facebook page for all their kind and concerned friends.

Very sadly Zanetta missed celebrating her 13th birthday by one day.  Tragically over the last few weeks she deteriorated and was diagnosed as suffering bone cancer.  The most difficult, but kindest, decision was to say goodbye….

Zanetta was a bitch who ran the fence line nonstop every day, all day (if allowed) looking for wallabies and then jumping the fence in pursuit.  She  most certainly still commanded respect from all the others at home and her personal space NEVER decreased with age and heaven help any who intruded into it.

As a show dog she was a high achiever – a multi Best In Show winning Grand Champion who won in both Queensland and Victoria.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge….

When an animal who has been especially close to someone dies, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.  There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.  There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. 

Animals who were ill and old are restored to health and vigour;  those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them from days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one thing: they miss someone very special to them; the person they left behind.

All of the animals run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.  His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.  Happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW

SICK LIST:

After  Keith Anderson’s (Eirean Irish Setters) lung transplant a couple of weeks ago, we can report that he is still in ICU at the Alfred Hospital here in Melbourne and now out of induced coma.  The lungs were working well but now a hiccup – he’s got a collapsed lung leaking fluid and air, So they’ve put the chest drain back in and upped the respirator for a while. It’s just delaying getting him out of the ICU, probably by another two weeks.
Still can’t talk due to the trachy; still not able to lift his hands to write.  He’s very frustrated.

Our continued thoughts and prayers are with him and Di who has organised for updates on her Facebook page for all the the kind and concerned friends.

Pat Whitburn (my mother) has recently had breast cancer surgery and is about to embark on a long radiotherapy treatment.  We’d appreciate positive thoughts for her outcome.   Good luck mum.
