This irish setter dog,

Best In Show winning

SUPREME GRAND CH SHELOMITH VICE REGENT,

is one of 4 champions from the same litter bred by

Mrs Edyth Langham-Goodwin OAM (Tasmania).

Hugo is a testament to his breeding:  handsome and full of quality  – as well as being kindly in expression … and from the lines of Greg Browne (Eireannmada) and Carrie Paine (Tullane) you would expect nothing less!

Hugo was consistently acknowledged by international, interstate and local judges – gundog & breed specialists notwithstanding. Over his show career he has also taken out the prestigious

IRISH SETTER CLUB OF VICTORIA’S DOG OF THE YEAR  2006

IRISH SETTER CLUB OF VICTORIA’S DOG OF THE YEAR 2007

IRISH SETTER CLUB OF VICTORIA’S DOG OF THE YEAR 2009

This is an award proudly won three times by his great-grandfather Australian Grand Ch Eireannmada At Harvard.

At Australia’s most premier specialty show, in November 2009,  he was awarded by breed specialist, Mrs Linda Millman (Canada) :

Dog Challenge & Best Opposite Sex in Show

at the 2009 Irish Setter Club of Victoria’s 48th Championship Show

In October 2011, Ms Karolynne McAteer (USA), judged the Irish Setter Specialty show and awarded Hugo:

Best Veteran In Show

2011  Irish Setter Club of Victoria’s 50th Anniversary Championship Show

In between exhibitions he was also a wonderful ambassador of the breed….. and can still be found fine-tuning his ‘rollicking’ and ‘demonstrative affectionate’ ways towards any human and/or dog with whom he associates!

……….. In other words, a lovely dog to own  Red heart

Living the life of a celebrity (could Hugo be the most famous Irish Setter in Australia ?  Winking smile ) and boasting Champion and Grand Champion offspring across Europe and in USA, we now follow with great pride the careers, both show and performance, of some of  Hugo’s progeny around the world.   However, some owners do not choose to do anything more than love and enjoy the company of clever and beautiful Hu children – and we are just as proud of their wonderful homes and lives.

Hugo is exhibited sparingly over the summer months, however, still manages to impress the overseas and interstate judges when he is out and about.

Fun on the Run

Hugo has had an occasionally forced leave of absence from the show ring over the last couple of years due to my personal injury and illness.  However, after not being campaigned for many months, we announce that in the opinion of many international, interstate and local judges this young dog is a worthy recipient of his Australian Grand Champion* title!

*Go to About Judging in Australia for definition

I would like to publicly thank Greg Browne (Eireannmada) who is co-owner/handler and Ty Atkinson (Nauvoo) (former handler) both who exhibited Hugo to some very memorable awards.  Indeed, I thank from the bottom of my heart the generosity of my friend from Tasmania, Edyth Langham-Goodwin OAM (Shelomith Irish Setters),  who gifted Hugo to us.

The show world certainly has given me wonderful moments and enduring friendships…..

As a companion dog, Hugo would win honours in any competition.  He has manners, good grace, and common sense.  However, there is also a fair swag of that rollicking irish personality packed into his strong, sound, V8 frame … and at the press of a button, he can turn into the most laid back guy around!
